Hey John,

Great to hear your sons are enjoying their aliens.
I'm not sure if age is the problem though. 3 of my kids, aged 4,6 and now 8, all enjoy playing with webkinz or club penguin. In both these scenarios, as you probably know, you keep your pet alive online. But in contrast to test tube alien, theres lots and lots of stuff to do.

I think all the kids are disapointed about test tube aliens just because of the age saying 7+. Most seven year olds like to play with their toys and would find the toy too much responsibility. I have an 11 year old son and a 12 year old son. They both baught test tube aliens and even after 3 months they still think they are cool because of the fact that you are keeping them alive. They both know that they are not real and are battery powerd, but i think if the age said 10+, the kids would be alot more happy with them.

Hey Sean,
Fair play to you lasting 28 days, I'm afraid I "accidentally" dumped the alien in bin sooner.

Agree totally on the TV hype stuff. My son has now started the "nag offensive" to get me to buy boogaz which also looks to ba a similiar totally crap toy. Argggh.

Excellent review Catherine. This toy is a total waste of money. I am surprised it even got a 1 / 5 rating, I personally would have given it 0/5.

Our 7yo little girl was bored with it after 3 days, saying "is this all it does." The website is not very accurate either, saying the wrong age and that she mistreated her alien which upset her as she was caring for it as per instructions. Just seems like an accident waiting to happen with getting children to hold "testubes" filled with water infront of PC monitors ( or worse still over laptop keyboards.) Also no ingredients/ contents information on the "Sloog" only a warning "This is not a food for human beings". What happens if younger child opens packet or swallows contents, is this stuff toxic??

Currently we are on day 28 and it is upto myself or my wife to look after this thing. The advertisement on TV makes it look very good and entertaining, maybe it is about time some people complained about it.

Agree with you, it is total cr*p. However it did produce the quote of the year from my 5 year old during the cocoon hatching stage "I never knew having babies was so much fun"!!
