We purchased this icecream maker about a year ago, and unfortunately it hasn’t really been used for ages. The main reason for this is the quality of the icecream it produces, which is very stodgy and heavy.
In summary:
Advantages:
- Ice cream maker is relatively cheap.
- Simple to use.
- There are not many parts to disassemble and clean after use.
Disadvantages:
- The requirement for pre-freezing of the bowl.
- It just uses a paddle to stir ingredients so no air whisked into ice cream mixture which tends to result in a heavy solid ice-cream which is difficult to serve.
In retrospect, I think we should have spent more money and bought a more expensive maker that doesn’t have the pre-freezing of the bowl requirement and that perhaps has a better method for whisking air into the mixture to provide a lighter icecream.
